Undeliverable mail

Undeliverable consignments are referred to as «redresses». Redresses must never be thrown into other letterboxes, on top of letterboxes, in the building corridor or even in yellow Swiss Post letterboxes.

Reasons for redresses

Take a pen with you when delivering mail and note the undeliverable reason number in small print next to the address. Do not cross anything out and do not write any remarks on the mail.

1 Unknown

You cannot find a letterbox with the recipient's last name or company at the address given.

2 Moved to a new address

The recipient's name is on the letterbox but is crossed out or taped over (or you know for sure that the person has moved).

3 Person deceased / company dissolved

You know for sure that the person is deceased or a company no longer exists.

4 Refused

The recipient has refused to accept the mailing or has given it back to you.

41 Surplus (partially adressed mailings)*

For example, if you have received five mail items even though the house only has four mailboxes, return one item and note the 41 on it.

*Only use this code for partially adressed mailings.

42 Refused (partially addressed mailings)*

The recipient has refused to accept a partially addressed mailing or given it back to you.

*Only use this code for partially addressed mailings.

5 Letterbox is inaccessible / no letterbox

The mailbox or the mailbox unit of the building is not accessible. You rang the doorbell, but no one opened the door.

51 Mailbox is inaccessible / no mailbox for an INDIVIDUAL recipient

A building has several mailboxes that are generally accessible. You have a mailing for a recipient who lives there, but that specific mailbox is not accessible.

55 Mailbox and parcel box are full

Both the mailbox and the parcel box are so full that you cannot deliver the mailing.

6 Building not found

You could not find the building indicated on the address.

7 Building is not part of your delivery area

The building is not part of your delivery area and therefore does not appear on your delivery sequence list or in the app.

77 Mailing is damaged

The mailing is so badly damaged or dirty that it would leave a negative impression.

➤ If the mailing is only slightly damaged or dirty, you can apply the appropriate Post-it and deliver it anyway. You can order Post-its for damaged items by emailing info@quickmail-ag.ch.
